Frequently Asked Questions

Below are common questions mostly asked by our clients. If you don't see your question and answer here, please message us on our contact page.

Q. I have multiple dogs I'd like to consider for services, can I fill out one request form for both/all dogs?

A. No. You must fill out an individual request form for EACH individual dog you'd like to be considered for spay or neuter services. Please do NOT try to add multiple dogs to one form. There is a reason for this...the form asks for important information about your dogs i.e. weight, sex, medications, temperament, medical history, etc. Each dog is different and the forms do not give you an option to add multiple answers for each question and if it did; we would not know which answers belong to which dog.

We need all this information to relay to the clinics when booking and paying for the procedure. If the information isn't correct one of two things can happen. 1. We will overpay for your dog and lose money that could go toward helping someone else. 2. The clinics will turn you away. That means the 2, 3, 4 months you waited for the appointment are a wash and you'll have to wait a few months more. Please keep this in mind when filling out the forms as it will make things more efficient for everyone.

Q. Do you provide services for all dog breeds?

At this time our funding for spay/neuter/vaccines & microchipping is for pitbull type dogs ONLY. These types of dogs include, American pitbull terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, American bullies and mixes of all of the above

Q. Are you a rescue?

A. No, The Pittie Project funds spay/neuter services for owners of Pitbull type dogs, in an effort

to reduce the number of bully breeds that end up in shelters.

Q. Do you have a contact phone number?

A. Our program is 100% run by volunteers. We do not have a contact number to protect their

privacy. All correspondence is done via email.

Q. What do I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment with the clinic?

A. It is your responsibility to reach out to the clinic directly to arrange the rescheduling or

cancelation of your appointment. For most of the clinics we are required to prepay your spay or

neuter appointment. If you do not show for your appointment without canceling in advance or

rescheduling, we lose that funding and you take away the chance of us helping another family

in need.

Q. Where is The Pittie Project Inc. located?

A. Our program is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in New Jersey. We are not a clinic;

however, we have relationships with clinics throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania and

primarily serve these areas.

Q. Can we get an appointment sooner?

A. Unfortunately, availability is limited. Once the appointment is scheduled, you can call the

clinic periodically to see if there is a cancellation and potentially get in sooner, but there is no

guarantee.

Q. Do you send a reminder for scheduled appointments?

A. No. Please mark the appointment on your calendar at the time of scheduling.

Q. How do I register my dog’s microchip?

A. If your dog was spayed/neutered at People for Animals, the chips are registered soon after

and the instructions are given to the owner. If the procedure was done at East Coast

Spay/Neuter in Toms River, you’ll be given the tag ID with the microchip and you can go to

idtag.com to register. Once on the site go to the top right-hand corner and click sign up to

create an account.

Q. Which clinics are you affiliated with in New Jersey?

A. People for Animals (Robbinsville, Millville, and Hillside)

East Coast Spay/Neuter Toms River

Q. Can I make an appointment just for vaccinations?

A. No. We can only provide the vaccinations/microchip at the time of spay/neuter.

Q. When will I hear back from you once I submit my application?

A. You will receive an email response within 48 hours or the next busines day after submission,

depending on when you submit it. If you do not receive an email within this timeframe, please

check your spam/junk folder.

Q. How do I get an appointment?

A. Request forms are located on our “Our Services” and “Contact” pages. The form must be

filled out in its entirety and a donation must be included for your application to fully submit in

our system.

Q. Are you an income-based service?

A. No. We will help provide spay/neuter services to anyone who owns a Pitbull type dog,

income is not a factor.
